Tennis players announced they would end an 18 month campaign pressuring Grand Slam tournaments over prize money, calling a truce shortly after the US Open men's final.
What The Dispute Was About The campaign had seen players publicly agitating for a larger share of Grand Slam revenue, arguing that prize money had not kept pace with the tournaments' overall earnings.
A Deal Built On A New Structure The truce followed the Grand Slams' creation of a Grand Slam Player Advisory Council the previous month, giving players a formal channel to negotiate directly with tournament organisers. Prize money across the four majors had grown to a combined $415.6 million over the course of the campaign, with players estimating more than $30 million of that reflects gains beyond normal year-on-year growth.
