Ghana's 2026/27 cocoa season was officially declared open on September 25, 2026, by Dr. Randy Abbey, Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
What Farmers Will Be Paid The producer price for cocoa rose from GH₵41,392 to GH₵42,400 per tonne for the new season, a GH₵1,008 increase, working out to GH₵2,650 for a 64 kilogram bag. COCOBOD said the new price represents 71.18% of the realised gross free-on-board price, above the 70% minimum guaranteed to farmers under the newly enacted Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 2026.
A Coordinated Start With Ivory Coast Ghana and Ivory Coast, the world's two largest cocoa producers, had earlier agreed to harmonize the start of their 2026/27 seasons and align their farmgate pricing approach. COCOBOD has also fully deployed its Ghana Cocoa Traceability System across all cocoa growing areas, aimed at helping the country meet the European Union's Deforestation Regulation, expected to take effect December 30, 2026.
